Our Story
Magnus is my miniature, long-haired, blonde dachshund. He came into this world with a keen sense that he is not small, hence his name. It should be noted that he has enormous golden paws which make him all the more irresistible and his name all the more appropriate.
The Magnus Bag
The Magnus bag is named in his honor. Magnus is always at my side, whether on 8-hour plane flights back home to Germany, jaunts canvassing Manhattan or parading grocery aisles.
This bag was born out of a need for me to carry my baby in safe and stylish fashion. It represents the convergence of three fundamental arms of my identity:
My Germanic self
My love for my dachshund
My love for beauty

One day in the park…
As a designer obsessed with all things beautiful, I admittedly place equal importance on the functionality as well as magnificence of a bag…and, until the birth of the Magnus bag, I had yet to encounter a functional and magnificent bag in which to carry my always-with-me boy. The Magnus bag concept came to me one day in September 2024, in a truly epiphanous flash, as I was rounding the park bend while walking Magnus.
Such was the flash: as a German, I needed to create a quintessentially German bag for my German dog. What a joyful evolution it has been to behold: from the original sketch, to the many trips to and from Germany sourcing materials and identifying local Bavarian production, to bag detail fine-tuning and to the marvelous final product.
If you are a dachshund parent, you undoubtedly know that dachshunds are notoriously people-oriented dogs who love nothing more than to shadow their humans. They are loyal, affectionate deep bonders who are happiest when included in all aspects of daily life.
And so, Magnus and I hope you will enjoy countless hours of togetherness and exploration with your pup by your side in his/her functional and beautiful Magnus bag.
I am a firm believer that life is best lived if you are surrounded by pure and powerful love. Such is the love for and from a dachshund.

Meet Ann
I am Ann, and I am so very happy you’ve stopped in! Herzlich willkommen!
A few notes about me. First and foremost in this life, I am mama to my son and daughter and puppy, Magnus. The Magnus bag is something of a fourth child to me.
I was raised between the United States and Germany, and this bag pays homage to that beautiful cultural straddle. In many ways this bag is akin to a pot of gold at the end of my winding journey since undergraduate and graduate studies. Armed with degrees from Wellesley and Yale, I have explored many a realm within the design arena. That sweet feeling of true fulfillment had somewhat eluded me until the birth of the Magnus bag. For now, with golden Magnus as my co-pilot and inspiration, I have created something that honors my heritage, love for beauty and devotion to my dog.
Frequent stays in Germany over the past couple of years have allowed me to personally identify only the most premium quality materials for the Magnus bag. My baby has had a significant say in this process, as well. For no trip to Germany occurs without Magnus in tow, and no decision is made without his necessary approval.
I feel proud of the Magnus bag’s uniqueness, timelessness, quality and beauty. If Magnus and I serve as any example, we are confident that you and your angelic companion, tucked cozily and beautifully in a Magnus bag, will savor many a daily adventure together.
